Goodbyes

Jeroen @ Willrock

Exactly 4 years ago, I completed the lineup of a new band. I met new people, started making music and playing shows with them. Together we've had fun, worked hard, pulled through setbacks and made giant leaps forward. These people have become a few of my closest friends, while reaching new heights in my musical career.

That's why it brings me great sadness having to announce my retirement as lead guitarist of False Archetypes.
My last show will be our EP release on the 25th of march, as a celebration of the last 4 years.

Parallel to the band gaining momentum, my private life has also been moving forward: In the last year alone I bought a house with my girlfriend, moved into it, asked her to marry me and we've put the first step towards starting a family by getting a dog.
With a demanding fulltime job, being a board member of the local youth club, a lot of work still needing to be done around the house, our wedding coming in 2017 and our plans for having kids in the next 2-3 years, being in a band on top of that has been increasingly tough to manage.

This decision also couldn't have been more difficult because I feel the band has never been better and our debut EP, the culmination of 4 years of hard work, is coming out soon.
I am very thankful for the understanding and support Laura, Robbe, Raf and Nolan showed about this decision. I am even more thankful and honored that when I told them back in november, they would not have it any other way than me still recording our EP with them.

Ofcourse I also owe a big thanks to you, for supporting us and making it possible to have been a part of this the last 4 years. I hope you will keep supporting False Archetypes for many years to come.
I'd also like to give a big shoutout to all the bands we've played with, and all the organisers letting us onto their stage. It has been an incredible experience, which I am never going to forget.

In closing, I'd like to tell you this is not the end of my involvement with False Archetypes. I will keep following the band very closely and will in fact still be working with them behind the scenes, supporting them in various ways.

We have also found a worthy successor already and are working to get him up to speed so the transition will be as smooth as can be.
Keep an eye out for more news about him soon!

To Robbe, Nolan, Raf and Laura: thanks for playing together for the past 4 years. Thanks for the music, thanks for the laughs, thanks for the memories and thanks for your friendship. I'm going to miss hanging out with you every weekend.
To you: thank you for supporting and listening to False Archetypes. Please continue to do so in the future.

Goodbye, and I'll see you around.
